Dublin Cycling Campaign has been working since the early 1990s to improve conditions for cyclists in Dublin. Among our achievements are:

  • Flashing LED front/rear lights are now legal
  • Mandatory use provision, whereby cyclists were obliged to use cycle lanes regardless of quality, has been abolished
  • Cyclists are now permitted to filter up on inside of static or slow-moving traffic
  • Cyclists are now permitted to use bus only bus lanes
  • Cyclists are now permitted to use counter-flow bus lanes
  • Bull-bars on SUVs have been banned
  • Tinted-windows have been banned
  • 30 km/h speed limit in Dublin city centre and residential areas
  • Restrictions on heavy goods vehicles in the city centre
  • Public bicycle parking provision in the city centre
  • An active input into the National Cycling Policy Framework, published by the Department of Transport in April 2009
  • Bicycle policy audit (BYPAD) for Dublin City Council 2011
  • Representatives on Strategic Policy Committees for Transport in all four Councils (Dublin City, South Dublin, Fingal and Dun Laoghaire - Rathdown)
  • Establishment of Cycle Forum for Dublin City
