The Dublin Cycling Campaign is an independent, voluntary lobby group that has been working to improve the city for all cyclists for over a decade and a half.
Lobbying- How to write or email
It's often better to write a formal letter to make a complaint or lobby for change. Email, although instant, does not have the same formality as a letter. Here's a Campaign letter layout in 'Microsoft' format, with the Campaign logo.
Next you need to write an email message or letter or prepare a more detailed submission - the submission might start off as an email message or letter and then be expanded into a paper, memorandum or report that has sections, statistics, images, comparisons with how other jurisdictions do it, references, images, video footage, etc to back it up. It is very much dependent on the issue you want to raise and the action you seek if people start to listen to you.
If you go to the Campaign's archive section you will see how we have performed at lobbying over other issues. We have brought about change!
Please do not 'slag' or abuse your target correspondent. We in DCC pride ourselves on our professional approach to public officials or politicians where we try to communicate as co-equals. We must not be seen as a bunch of 'loonies'!
In the example on the Lobbying page, the road safety issue for cyclists is set out and a solution is demanded. However, sad to say, this plea went unheeded so we do not always have success.
