Sometimes a simple plea to a public official doesn't work and you have to decide on what to do next. Do you want to get a positive result at any cost?
You could escalate the lobbying by asking others to write essentially similar letters to the same official but this time perhaps copying to the local councillors or oppostion transport spokespersons, etc. You may decide to write a letter to the editor of a national daily newspaper or a local freesheet. You may decide to craft a media release to get the message out to a wider public audience.
Obviously each issue requires a different response.
If you have been directed by a Campaign meeting or the chairperson to write the letter then make sure you send the draft version to the DCC-active list to ensure that there is agreement for what you propose. You can't do a solo-run for the Campaign.
