Great News for Cycling and Dublin City

Dublin City Council with the support of Dublin Cycling Campaign made a bid to host the prestigious Velo City 2019 conference, the largest cycle related conference in the world! And the great news, is we have been successful, and managed to beat off the challenge of Helsinki to win this important conference for the city. It will be held in the National Conference Centre in June 2019.

The European Cyclists’ Federation bid assessment team were highly impressed with the overall plans for the City in the coming years, and the commitment from all levels of local and central government, as well as the very visible input from the members of Dublin Cycling Campaign and Cyclist.ie to support the overall bid. We got great support from the National Conference Centre team, and from some of the potential social venues such as Guinness Storehouse and Trinity College. Overall it was a great bit of teamwork, and a very impressive series of presentations from the City Council and the NTA, that helped to sway the bid.
