Dublin Cycling Campaign at the Paramore Gig in the 3Arena
Dublin Cycling Campaign / Cyclist.ie was thrilled to be offered a space by the environmental organisation Reverb at the recent Paramore gig in the 3Arena on 13 April 2023. And we were delighted to have active members Donna Cooney and Martin Quinn stepping forward to create and look after the space for us on the night.
We had great engagement with the band signed guitar really encouraging fans to come over to our stand. We heard from plenty of people who would like better cycling infrastructure in their areas. One women used to cycle but after being knocked over by a driver and injured, she will not cycle again until safer segregated cycling is provided. She and sixty other people signed up to learn more about the Cycling Campaign. We also had some visitors from Belfast who wanted to see a campaign there because infrastructure appears to be very poor for cycling in Belfast city.
We got to go to the gig afterwards which was great - and that was after packing up Donna’s e-cargo bike that had been brought inside the 3Arena beside our stand (that was really cool) and it was only a 12 minute cycle home with all the gear.
The lack of bicycle storage at the 3Arena is something Dublin Cycling Campaign can and will raise with the 3 Arena directly and to have bike valet services at future events.
