Public Talk: Smarter Travel for Employers - A SMART Decision
7:15-7:45pm Volunteers’ Meeting
We will be spending a little time advancing some of the main campaigns / events we are currently working on - especially the AGM & Associated Events of the European Cyclists’ Federation, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Bicycle Float and campaigning input into ‘Giro’ events (10-11 May), the Harolds Cross Festival (10-11 May) and National Bike Week (June).
8:00pm Seminar with Arlene Finn from the NTA
Arlene Finn of the National Transport Authority’s Smarter Travel Workplaces and Smarter Travel Campus programmes will outline how the programmes operate, and the benefits workplace travel plans bring to employers and employees. Partners of the programme have achieved significant gains in cycling over the past number of years – Arlene will outline what they are doing to achieve this change, and insights into the behavioural change process.
Arlene has been involved with the Smarter Travel Workplaces programme since 2008, first as a Travel Planner/ Facilitator, and more recently as Coordinator of the Smarter Travel Workplaces and Smarter Travel Campus programmes. Smarter Travel Campus and Smarter Travel Workplaces are voluntary programmes for large employers promoting more sustainable travel. Over 110 large employers are engaged with the programme, and recent results show increases in cycling in almost all Partners which have been monitored.
Arlene was one of the original team implementing the Green-Schools Travel theme, which went on to become the national programme of implementation of school travel plans.
