Why Can’t We Dream!?

…..And make Dublin, or any Irish town or city for that matter, a haven for alternative active travel, and pure enjoyment, away from the distractions and pollution of motorised traffic!

A large number of Irish cycling advocates recently visited Arnhem/Nijmegen in The Netherlands to view first hand what can be done to ensure that cycling becomes the main mode of transport in a city. They have come back enthused and ready to spread the message! Now, Paddy Logue in the Irish Times has written a wonderful article on the City of Groningen and its car free city centre, and its future plans. He asks is it a ‘Biking Nirvana’? Certainly for us here in Dublin it is, and on the basis of attitudes we still have a long way to go to get close to where Groningen and other Dutch cities are at. But surely we are entitled to dream!?…..and to advocate for that DREAM!
