Dodder Greenway - Herbert Park to Donnybrook Road - Launch

Another link in the Dodder Greenway is in place!

Dublin Cycling Campaign was well represented at the launch of the latest link in the Dodder Greenway - the section in the Dublin City Council area running from Herbert Park southwards as far as the Donnybrook Road (N11) / Beaver Row junction.

The damp conditions didn’t deter a large crew from attending. As well as an impressive throng of Dublin Cycling Campaigners (including Siobhán McNamara, Will Andrews, Colm Walsh, Damien Ó Tuama, Mike McKillen, Colm Ryder and David Timoney) and the Cycling Without Age crew (Clara Clark and Fiona Dorris), there was a great representation of sitting and prospective Councillors from an array of parties, as well as the Leaders of the Labour Party and the Green Party. Additionally, there were Engineering and Active Travel staff from the City Council, plus the consultants and contractors behind the infrastructure – and lots of school children on bikes!

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan and Cllr Dermot Lacey did the honours and opened the facility to the delight of those attending.

Overall it’s a fabulous facility and we would like to see an acceleration in the provision of the next parts of the Dodder Greenway jigsaw. We’ll be making a submission on the Milltown section plans (published today as it happens!) before the City Council’s deadline of March 15. Do please get in touch with us if you would like to feed your observations on the plans to us in the Campaign.
