Playback: How can cycling enable mobility and independence?
Listen back to our virtual public meeting on inclusive cycling held on Saturday 24 April 2022. Thank you very much to all the speakers and contributors.
Dublin Cycling Campaign’s vision is a vibrant, liveable city where everybody can safely enjoy everyday walking and cycling, and we advocate for cycling infrastructure that is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. At this virtual public meeting we explored what cycling can offer for people with disabilities as a form of everyday transport, a mobility aid, and a help to physical and mental wellbeing.
Our speakers were:
• Isabelle Clement, Director of Wheels for Wellbeing, handcyclist.
• Dr Eoghan Clifford, Senior Lecturer Civil Engineering at NUI Galway, 4-time paracycling world champion.
• Ellis Palmer, news journalist and producer, CP handcycler.
• Mary Caulfield, journalist and disability activist, Dublin Cycling Campaign Executive Committee member.
This event was chaired by Joan O’Connell and organised by Mairéad Forsythe and Siobhán McNamara.
