Let Your Cycling Voice Be Heard!
This week is an important week for the future of quality cycling in Dublin City! Dublin City Council are seeking submissions from you, and any member of the public, by next Thursday 9th March on their proposed design for the really important cycle route between Clontarf and Amiens St, close to Dublin City Centre. Dublin Cycling Campaign have major issues with the design as proposed, as we feel it does not adequately address the future needs for safe cycling in a city environment.
This route, which is listed as Primary Cycle Route 1 in the future GDA Cycle Network plan, is the first ‘on-street’ design, from the proposed future network, to be put out for consultation. This design will set a template for future designs, and thus will have a lasting effect on how our City treats cyclists into the future. Dublin Cycling Campaign feels the proposed design is not fit for purpose and urges you to back our stance and ask the City Council to review the design in detail, and ensure that the design is future proofed and will be safe for users of all ages and ability.
We attach a suggested draft one page submission, which you can alter to your own requirements. You can view the design details and make submissions online at https://consultation.dublincity.ie/traffic-and-transport/proposed-clonta… Why not do this right now!? You can also sign the petition on this route design at https://my.uplift.ie/petitions/clontarf-to-city-centre-cycle-route-needs… . The petition was created by Cian Ginty of irishcycle.com.
