Cycling and Public Transport
For many people with long commuting distances integrating cycling with public transport is important. This means providing secure bicycle parking at train and bus stations, allowing bicycles to be carried on public transport and installing public bike stations at appropriate locations.
For many years the cycling campaign has lobbied for proper provision for bicycles on trains and while there have been some improvements, we still have a long way to go before cyclists can be sure of being able to carry their bicycle on a train.
The cycling campaign is calling for much more secure bicycle parking at train stations, more bike spaces on Intercity trains and permission to bring bikes on Luas at off-peak times.
